Mills Park Sledding Hill

by Cassandra Colson Jackson County Chronicle
The future of Mills Park’s historic sledding hill will be preserved with an upcoming land transaction between the city of Black River Falls and a city landowner.

The city council voted 7-0 at its regular meeting last week to authorize the purchase of a lot of land from homeowners Ron and Sarah Wirtz whose property sits directly adjacent to Mills Park and its popular sledding hill.

With the $7,500-purchase, the city will formally own the entire park, including the sledding hill.

Volunteer to Wrap Gifts

Volunteers are needed to help wrap gifts and pack boxes for Project Christmas. Wrapping will take place Tuesday December 14th at 6PM and packing will be Thursday December 16th at 6PM, both at the National Guard Armory.
Project Christmas organizers have been busily preparing for their 27th round of giving to Jackson County residents who are in need of assistance this holiday season.

“It’s going extremely well I think,” said Ruth Buswell, a longtime Project Christmas volunteer. “We’re happy we can serve people.

“What we do is try to make Christmas better for families who may be having a little difficulty this year or throughout the years.”
