Kids Hunter Safety Program Registration

Have a young person looking forward to hunting?  Registration for the Hunters Safety Programs are happening all across Jackson County. Learn more about Hunters Safety Programs at the Wisconsin DNR website Hunter Safety Education

Alma Center: Register by calling David Durni at Lincoln High School 715-964-5311. Classes will be held Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays March 11th through March 26th at 7PM

Black River Falls: Register next Tuesday March 5th from 5PM to 7PM at the Black River Falls Middle School. Students will need DNR customer number and a parent or guardian must be present to sign forms and pay fee. Classes will be March 7th, March 12th, March 19th, March 21st, March 26th, April 2nd and April 4th from 6:45PM to 9PM.  The Field Test will be April 6th and Written Test will be April 9th.

Melrose: Register by contacting Gregory Totten at the Melrose Rod and Gun Club 715-284-5923. Classes will be Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays March 14th through March 30th at 7PM.  

Taylor: Register by contacting Gerald Blazek at the Taylor Rod and Gun Club 715-896-2107. Classes will be held Mondays March 11th through April 29th at 6PM. The Field Test will be April 27th.

Ice Fishing Events

It's been great ice fishing weather this winter - and just in case you need an excuse to get out and do more ice fishing, we have two events here, one for everyone and one for the kids.

This Saturday, February 16th, is an Ice Fishing Contest on Lower Trow Lake in Merrillan sponsored by the Merrillan Lions Club and Merrillan Fire Department. Get a contest form from Hatfield Sport Shop and head out from 12:30PM–4PM and test your skill. See the contest poster with prize list for more details Ice Fishing Contest

Next Saturday, February 23rd 11AM–1PM is Youth Ice Fishing Day at the Lunda Community Park Pond in Black River Falls. This free event is sponsored by the Jackson County Wildlife Fund and open to all kids 12 and under. There will be door prizes, hot dogs, soda, hot chocolate.
