Karner Blue Butterfly Festival this weekend
It will begin with the 6th Annual Karner Blue Race, a 5K, 10K and half-marathon runs, with registration beginning at 7:30AM and the race beginning at 8AM.
There will also be a pancake breakfast, tea, crowning of the Princess, antique car show, rides, games, and a Chicken Dinner starting at 4:30PM.

Black River Falls and the Civil War
From the Jackson County Chronicle: Levi Miles more readily enjoys studying world history. But after the past four months of researching the role of Black River Falls men in the Civil War, he says he’s learned the value of Jackson County’s role in an important slice of United States history.
“It’s just really, really neat,” said Miles, a Black River Falls High School senior. “Considering the time period (and our) far-north town, we had people fighting in the Civil War."
