Kids Hunter Safety Program Registration

Have a young person looking forward to hunting?  Registration for the Hunters Safety Programs are happening all across Jackson County. Learn more about Hunters Safety Programs at the Wisconsin DNR website Hunter Safety Education

Alma Center: Register by calling David Durni at Lincoln High School 715-964-5311. Classes will be held Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays March 11th through March 26th at 7PM

Black River Falls: Register next Tuesday March 5th from 5PM to 7PM at the Black River Falls Middle School. Students will need DNR customer number and a parent or guardian must be present to sign forms and pay fee. Classes will be March 7th, March 12th, March 19th, March 21st, March 26th, April 2nd and April 4th from 6:45PM to 9PM.  The Field Test will be April 6th and Written Test will be April 9th.

Melrose: Register by contacting Gregory Totten at the Melrose Rod and Gun Club 715-284-5923. Classes will be Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays March 14th through March 30th at 7PM.  

Taylor: Register by contacting Gerald Blazek at the Taylor Rod and Gun Club 715-896-2107. Classes will be held Mondays March 11th through April 29th at 6PM. The Field Test will be April 27th.

August 11th and 12th

Two big events coming up next weekend - you don't want to miss the fun.

In Melrose it's the 38th Annual Melrose American Legion Post 439 Corn Broil Saturday Noon to Midnight and Sunday 11AM to 5PM on Highway 108. Have some delicious sweet corn while enjoying the music, strolling through the flea market, taking a horse wagon rides, and more. There will be a Penny Hunt at 2PM both days.

In York check out the York-Northfield Rodeo at the Owen Kinning Ball Park. Saturday's events include a Gymkhana (riders from tiny tots to the "Jack Benny" class), a Lip Sync contest, crowning the Rodeo Princess and music. There will be a Parade Sunday at 11:30AM, as well as a horseshoe contest and the rodeo.

Upcoming Blood Drives

What better gift to give than life this Christmas.  If you can, visit one of the upcoming American Red Cross Blood Drives here in Jackson County.

- Monday December 19th at the Melrose-Mindoro High School in Melrose from 11:30AM-5:30PM.  You can set an appointment at 1-800-GIVE-LIFE, but walk-ins are welcome.

- Friday December 23rd at the Black River Memorial Hospital from 10AM-3PM.  Walk-ins welcome, or set appointment at 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or on the Red Cross website

- Wednesday December 28th at the Black River Falls Armory from Noon-5:45PM. Walk-ins welcome, or set appointment at 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or on the Red Cross website

Free Sweet Corn

Corn on the grill - that is summer!

Head over to the American Legion Grounds in Melrose for a Corn Broil Saturday August 13th Noon to Midnight and Sunday August 14th 8:30AM to 3PM for all you can eat free sweet corn, along with a flea market, music, games, horse wagon rides and more. Horseshoe Tournament Sunday at 11AM.

Give Blood

March is Red Cross Month. The American Red Cross will be holding Blood Drives next week in Jackson County. You can donate and save lives by visiting one of these locations:

Melrose-Mindoro High School in Melrose on Monday March 28th 11AM to 5PM
Or
Lincoln High School in Alma Center Wednesday March 30th 11AM to 5PM
